You get wet!

The object of the Polar Plunge is for participants to leap into the Gunnamatta Bay Baths - or run into the bay from the beach.

You won't need to be in the water for long - but you will get wet!

You get cold!

We're asking you to do this in the middle of our (admittedly mild) Sydney winter.

You get to make a difference!

All funds raised from the plunge go to help the athletes of Special Olympics.

LETR New South Wales comprises law enforcement volunteers working to raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics

We are one of five LETR programs in Australia - all of which are conducting a Polar Plunge in 2024

The LETR movement was founded in Kansas in 1981 and is active in over 30 countries around the world

Over 100,000 law enforcement officers participate in Torch Run activities each year making it the largest policing charity in the world

Special Olympics is a global movement that has been transforming the lives of people with an intellectual disability for over 50 years

The primary motivation for torch runners worldwide is the athletes!

The Plunge is open to law enforcement, emergency services, corporates, Special Olympics clubs and individuals. All participants must be at least 18 years old

Special Olympics athletes

Let's be honest here!

The main aim of this event is to raise as much money as we can to assist the athletes of Special olympics NSW, whose clubs provide sporting opportunities in their local communities.

LETR NSW has supported the clubs by funding transport, uniforms, equipment and many other necessary costs - making a huge difference in the lives of the athletes.

Can you take the next step and raise more money to help us?

Yes - we get it. Fundraising can be hard, and asking for money can be awkward.

Luckily, you're doing it for a great cause.

Fundraising

We are very grateful for your $25 registration donation (which is of course a charitable tax deduction), but ask that you consider reaching out to your family and friends to support you with a donation.

If you are part of a team, work with your team mates to come up with fundraising ideas.

Check out the Fundraising Toolkit on the Resources page of this website.

Incentives

We have created a series of incentive levels to thank you for your fundraising efforts.

Every registered participant will receive a Polar Plunge Beanie (it is winter).

Raise over $200 and you will be the proud owner of a Polar Plunge T-Shirt.

Bring in $500 and we'll add a Polar Plunge Towel to the mix.

Make it $1000 and we'll add a very special gift (along with everything else)

There will also be incentives and recognition for the teams that raise more than $5000
